Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

This recipe makes the best chocolate chip cookies, every time!

This recipe for chocolate chip cookies is my favorite, or I should say my family’s favorite. They love it when I make these! They are buttery- crispy on the edges, and soft in the middle. With a hint of salt and vanilla, they are melt in your mouth delicious. Let me show you how to make them!

The How To

First, get out a large mixing bowl and an electric mixer. Or you can definitely use a spoon to mix, your arm will get a little workout. Place two sticks of salted butter in the bowl and microwave for about 40 seconds. You can use softened butter, but I find microwaving is an easy step since I can never remember to pull the butter out to soften before making cookies!

Next, add the sugars to the butter and mix for one minute. This is called creaming the butter and sugar and will result in a fluffier cookie. Then, add the egg and mix, just to combine, then add the baking soda, salt, and vanilla. Mix again.

Pour the flour into the mixture and mix until blended. Your dough will be dry at first and then should come together to form a thick dough. (If it doesn’t come together, the butter might not have been soft enough, microwave the mixture for 10 seconds and mix again.)

The key to these cookies is a thick dough! Finally, add the chocolate chips, mix and scoop onto a cookie sheet.

This recipe makes about 30 cookies. Bake in a 375º oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges, are golden brown but the middles are still gooey. Let them cool and enjoy!

These cookies will keep for around 3 days in an airtight container. You can also freeze for up to 6 months.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • tsp vanilla
  • cup flour
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Place refrigerated butter in a large mixing bowl, microwave for 40 seconds.
  • To the butter add sugar and brown sugar, cream for 1 minute.
  • Add the egg, mix to combine. Add baking soda, salt and vanilla, mix again.
  • Pour in flour, mix. Then fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Scoop batter onto cookie sheets and bake in a 375° oven for 12-14 minutes.
