The How To

Start with peeling several potatoes. The trick to making enough mashed potatoes for your family or group of people is counting out 1 medium-sized potato per person and then one or two extra for the pot!

Once the potatoes are peeled, cut them into a large dice. The smaller the cuts, the quicker they will cook!

Next, bring a pot of water to a boil on the stove. Add in the potatoes and plenty of salt. Cook for 15-20 minutes, until they are fork-tender (easy to poke with a fork).

Drain the potatoes and mash them thoroughly with a potato masher. Add in sour cream, garlic powder, milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Then finally whip with an electric mixer. And that’s it! Perfectly creamy mashed potatoes every time!

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Let me know how yours turns out in the comments! What are your favorite mashed potato toppings?
