Starbucks Copycat Iced Caramel Macchiato- Nespresso Recipe

We all love going out for coffee, but sometimes you may want to save the money or even the time it takes to go out. I used to work for “that company” as a barista and an Iced Caramel Macchiato isn’t hard to make!

An iced macchiato is just fresh shots of espresso poured over milk and ice. The classic Iced Caramel Macchiato is sweetened with vanilla syrup and 14 sweeps back and forth of caramel drizzle.

For this recipe, I’m going to use my Nespresso maker, but any means you have of getting two shots of espresso (2 oz) will do!

This Nespresso maker is the one I have, it is the cutest little machine! You hardly see it on my counter, I just love how minimal it is. If you are thinking about buying one, I would definitely recommend!

For the vanilla syrup, I didn’t see the need to go out and buy any. You can simply use a splash of vanilla extract, and 1/2 tbsp of sugar will give you the same sweetness of the syrup.

And for the caramel, just purchase your favorite from the grocery store! If you have some on hand in your house, just use that. But if you are planning to buy some, I would say the quality matters, so maybe spring for the Ghirardelli or Torani caramel drizzle. Did you know that Ghirardelli makes a Salted Caramel Sauce??

Iced Caramel Macchiato
The How To

This is my favorite part, it brings me back to my days of being a barista. I could never get enough time at “the bar” as they call it. We would trade off times making drinks, then washing dishes and running the drivethrough.

Grab a large glass and pour in 8 oz of 2% milk. Then add 5 oz of ice. Splash in a little bit of vanilla, about 1/2 tsp. (We are making a grande, a 16oz drink… so 8 oz of milk, 5 oz of ice and 2 oz of espresso plus room for caramel drizzle brings us almost all the way to the top!)

Next brew two small shots of espresso, you can use whatever blend is your favorite! Stir 1/2 tbsp sugar into the espresso, this will dissolve it easily rather than putting it into the cold milk (which is what you could do if you had vanilla syrup on hand). The sugar is optional but will give you the traditional sweetness you’d get if you were ordering the drink right off the menu.

Pour the shots over the milk and ice. Then for the fun part, drizzle 7 sweeps of caramel left and right over your drink and then 7 sweeps up and down. This is the classic cross pattern you get at the store!

Now stir and enjoy!

Let me know how it turned out in the comments!
