Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (you can also substitute gluten free cup for cup flour, this is my favorite)
  • 1 9.4oz bag of M&M Mini’s

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Gather two baking sheets.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 1 minute.
  3. Add Extra Ingredients: Beat in the egg, followed by the baking soda, salt and vanilla extract.
  4. Flour: Add the flour mixing just until combined.

Step 2: Shape and Bake the Cookies

  1. Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Add Extra M&Ms: Add the mini M&M’s to a plate. Roll the top of each cookie dough ball into the M&M’s so that they stick to the surface.
  3. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 11-13 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  4. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips for Perfect M&M Mini’s Cookies

  • Room Temperature Ingredients: Make sure the butter and eggs are at room temperature for the best mixing results.
  • Don’t Overbake: For soft and chewy cookies, take them out of the oven when the edges are lightly golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  • Chill the Dough: For thicker cookies, chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before baking.
