The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars Ever!

Easy gooey cookie bars!

These cookie bars are a family favorite. It’s one of the easiest dessert recipes to make, all you have to do is mix up the ingredients and bake them, no need to scoop out individual cookies. We love them!

These cookie bars are definitely a winner if you like crispy edges with a gooey middle! They are so buttery and fluffy! You really have to try them! You won’t regret it! Let me show you how to make them.

The How To

First, get a large bowl and add two sticks of softened butter. Tip: you can microwave the butter in the bowl to soften it, just microwave in 10-second increments for 30-40 seconds.

Pour in the sugars and mix them with the butter for 1 minute (I recommend a kitchen aid handheld mixer! It is so easy to pull out to use, and works great, linked here). Next add an egg, baking soda, salt, and vanilla, then mix until just combined. If you are using salted butter, add 3/4 tsp salt, if you are using unsalted butter, add 1 tsp salt.

Next, add the flour and mix. And finally, add the chocolate chips and combine. Grease a 9×13 pan and press the dough into the pan. (If you don’t have one, I recommend this pan that comes with a lid!) Bake in a 375º oven for 14-17 minutes. Once completely cooled, slice into 12-16 bars.

*If the dough doesn’t come together and looks dry after adding the flour, just microwave it for 10 seconds. Sometimes that happens if the butter is too cold.

The bars will stay fresh for up to 3 days when stored in an airtight container.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°.
  • Add butter and sugars to a large bowl, mix together for 1 minute.
  • Add egg, baking soda, salt and vanilla, mix until just combined.
  • Pour in flour, mix. Then stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Press batter into a greased 9×13 pan. Bake for 14-17 minutes.
