Ingredients
1cupmilkdairy or non-dairy like almond, oat, coconut milk, or water
2 ½tspunsweetened cocoa powder
1heaping tbspsemi-sweet chocolate chips
1tspsugaradjust to taste, for heathy swap use ½ tbsp maple syrup
¼tspvanilla extract
pinchof salt
whipped cream or marshmallowsoptional, for topping
Instructions
On the Stovetop
Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan, pour 1 cup of milk and heat it over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally.
Mix the Cocoa Powder: Once the milk is warm (not boiling), add cocoa powder, semi-sweet chocolate chips, sugar, vanilla and a pinch of salt. Whisk well until the cocoa powder is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into your favorite mug. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cocoa powder, if desired.
Microwave Instructions:
Heat the Milk: Heat your milk in the microwave for 60-90 seconds.
Add the Ingredients: Add the cocoa, chocolate chips, sugar, vanilla and salt. Whisk until well combined. Enjoy!
